10-Day |
Day 1 -
NEW YORK
Leave New York to begin our
once-in-a-lifetime adventure in the Holy Land. Each will depart from
their own area. (meals in flight)
Day 2 -
TEL AVIV
Arriving in Tel Aviv, we are
immediately surrounded by the rich biblical history of the area, met
by our WWCT representa- tive and transferred to our hotel for dinner
and overnight.
DAY 3
-TEL AVIV/CAESAREA/HAIFA/MT. CARMEL/NAZARETH/SEA OF GALILEE
This morning travel along the
beautiful coast to Caesarea, where Paul was jailed and spoke on his
own behalf before King Agrippa (Acts 2:6). Con- tinue to the lovely
bay city of Haifa and the beautiful, wooded range of Mt. Carmel, the
place Elijah chose for the great contest with the prophets of Baal (1
Kings 18:19-39). Then to Nazareth, Jesus' boyhood home, to visit the
Church of the Annunciation, the synagogue where Jesus stood and read
from the book of Isaiah (Luke 4:16-30), Joseph's workshop and Mary's
fountain. Next stop is Megiddo, where it is believed the battle of
Armageddon will take place (Revelation 16:13-16). Just off the road
to Tiberias is Cana, where Jesus performed His first miracle (John 2:1-11).
On to our hotel in Tiberias, overlooking the Sea of Galilee, for
dinner and overnight.
DAY 4 - TIBERIAS-SEA
OF GALILEE/CAPERNAUM/ TABGHA/MOUNT OF
BEATITUDES
Hopefully, you got a good
nights sleep; a busy day as we visit the birth of the New
Testa- ment, beginning with a spiritual cruise on the Sea of Galilee
to the ruins of Capernaum, where Jesus made His headquarters (Matthew
4:13-16). More of Christ's miracles were per- formed here than in any
other city. Continue to Tabgha, where the 5,000 were fed, (Matthew
14:13-21) and to the Mount of Beatitudes, where Jesus gave His Sermon
on the Mount. Continue sightseeing this after-noon including a visit
to Kibbutz Ginosar Museum to see the "Jesus Boat", if
possible. For those desiring, a baptismal service can be held in the
River Jordan. Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 5 -
TIBERIAS/MT. TABOR/JORDAN VALLEY/JERICHO/JERUSALEM
Time to attend Sunday morning
worship service at the church of our choice. Then taxi to the top of
Mt. Tabor, traditional site of the Transfiguration of Christ.
Continue to Bet She'an, one of the oldest cities of the Ancient Near
East, located at the foot of Mt. Gilboa. Saul and Johnathan were
slain and fastened to the walls here (1 Samuel 31:8-13). Continue
through the fertile Jordan Valley, traveling the same journey Jesus
did. Visit the ancient city of Jericho, where the trumpets of the
Children of Israel made the walls come tumbling down, and a stop at
Elisha's Spring. On up to the Holy City of Jerusalem via the Roman
Road for dinner and overnight.
DAY 6 - JERUSALEM/BETHLEHEM
A leisure morning, then visit
Bethlehem, birthplace of the Lord Jesus and designated by Micah as
the place where Israel's Messiah would be born (Micah 5:2; Matthew
2:4-6). Visit the Church of Nativity--oldest church in Christendom,
the Milk Grotto and Rachel's tomb. Time to shop, return to hotel for
dinner and overnight.
DAY 7 -
JERUSALEM/GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE/ MT. OF OLIVES/ BETHANY
Today is indeed a special day! In
addition to examining the many magnificent sights of the area, we
will return in the evening with an even stronger appreciation of our
faith. Our day begins with a visit to the Garden of Gethsemane and
walk the path, following the footsteps of Jesus, to the Mt. of Olives
(Mark11:1). Christ's ascension from the Mt. of Olives must have been
close to Beth-any, a village where Lazarus, Mary and Martha resided
as well as Simon the Leper. Visit the remains of the House of
Caia-phas, where Peter denied Christ and where Jesus was brought by
soldiers from the Garden, spending His last night there (Matthew 26:
57; 21:1), visit the Church of Ascension and return to Jerusalem
along the path Jesus took riding the donkey on Palm Sunday. This
afternoon enjoy a walking tour of Old CIty Jerusalem by entering
through St. Stephen's Gate and onto the Pool of Bethesda and travel
via Dolorosa--Way of the Cross, continue to the temple area of Mt.
Moriah, see the Dome of the Rock, the El Agsa Mosque, the Eastern
Gate, the stables of Solomon, the Wailing Wall, the new temple area
and the exca-vations from the time of Jesus, walk through the old
bazaars to the Church of the Holy Sepul-chre and view the Tower of
David and Citadel as we leave the city through Joppa Gate--completing
our wonderful ad-venture on the very highest spir-itual level
imaginable; remainder of day on our own. Return to the hotel for
dinner and overnight.
DAY 8 -
JERUSALEM (FREE DAY)
A full day to explore Jerusalem
on our own. Return to hotel for our last overnight in Israel. Enjoy
our farewell dinner this evening--last opportunity to fel- lowship
and say goodbye to our many new friends.
DAY 9 -
JERUSALEM/ GARDEN TOMB/ GOLGOTHA/TEL AVIV- JOPPA
This morning on our own until
this afternoon when we explore the New City; view the Memor- ial of
the Holocaust, the model city of Jerusalem during the Second Temple's
period, the Knesset--Israel's Parliament, the Israel Museum, the
Shrine of the Book which houses the Dead Sea Scrolls, Mount Zion, the
traditional Tomb of King David, the Dormitian Abbey and the Upper
Room of the Last Supper. Continue by coach to the Garden Tomb and Golgotha--Place
of the Skull, where a Communion service will be held for those
desiring. Continue to Tel Aviv via Em- maus, where Jesus appeared to
the two after His resurrection. Just south of Tel Aviv, visit the
ancient Canaanite port of Jaffa (now Joppa), where Jonah boarded a
ship for Tarshish and where Tabitha rose from the dead. We will dine
at a restaurant in the Tel Aviv area, then head for airport to board
our late flight back home.
